We’re looking for a Software Support Specialist to join our team in a hybrid role located in Westbrook, Maine. This is more than just a help desk position — you’ll be actively involved in supporting our products, improving systems, and making a real impact on how users experience our technology.

Software Support Specialist Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality technical support for internal users and external customers, primarily for Java-based production applications.
  • Analyze logs and monitor application health using Datadog, proactively identifying issues before they impact end users.
  • Write, optimize, and troubleshoot SQL queries in MySQLOracle, or other relational databases to support application functionality and issue resolution.
  • Collaborate with developers to review backend Java code to identify and resolve bugs.
  • Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily standups, and retrospectives.
  • Work closely with QA teams during defect triage and testing cycles, contributing to system stability and product reliability.
  • Assist in building internal knowledge bases, user documentation, and support guides.
  • Participate in the on-call support rotation (after a comprehensive onboarding period).

Software Support Specialist Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in IT support or software troubleshooting roles.
  • Application Support: Troubleshoot and resolve issues in a production Java-based application
  • SQL/MySQL/Oracle: Write and optimize queries across relational databases
  • Datadog: Monitor logs, analyze application health, build dashboards, and set alerts
  • Java (support-level understanding): Ability to read and understand backend application code
  • Agile/Scrum: Participate in Agile Scrum ceremonies and workflows
  • QA Collaboration: Assist with defect triage, testing, and knowledge base documentation
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication for internal and customer-facing support

Nice to Have (But Not Required)

  • Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., Datadog, New Relic, Splunk)
  • Familiarity with AWS cloud environments and CI/CD pipelines
  • Exposure to DevOps principles, deployment workflows, or automation tools
  • Understanding of Java microservices architecture and RESTful APIs
