Director of Software Engineering.
We are looking for a Director of Software Engineering to join our client, a Medical Device Manufacturer in the Greater Boston area. This leader will be responsible for everything related to software and firmware development within the organization. Key to this role is having experience growing and developing a group, including being comfortable speaking of mistakes made and lessons learned. This person will guide the organization through a varied software landscape while being at the forefront of new technology offerings.
Responsibilities
• Professionally mentor and manage a team of software engineers and technical leads. Ability to identify skills that are in place and fostering skills that are required.
• Complete oversight and ownership of project budgets, risk, delivery, QA, etc. in pursuit of success.
• Installation of process, particularly related to Quality confirmation prior to release.
• Accurately estimate scope and effort required prior to start of projects, providing previous experience to identify trip points proactively.
• Ability to effectively engage and communicate with various stakeholders and department heads to understand overall requirements and needs.
• Thoroughly research and recommend new hardware and software that will increase the organization’s efficiency and performance.
• Polish to responsibly handle IP and HIPPA compliance.
Required Technical Knowledge
• Proven history of embedded software development leadership within Medical Device design.
• Expertise in C / C++ and Python in a Linux environment to lead code reviews and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with wireless standards such as Bluetooth Low Energy, Wi-Fi, etc.
• Experience with enabling connected devices by means of firmware stacks.
• Familiarity with connecting devices to various cloud environments.
• Prior experience with FDA product compliance requirements IEC 62304 and IEC 60601.
Additional Requirements
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering or related field.
• Exceptional communication and personal interaction.
• Occasional travel required.
