Executive Director
The Executive Director is responsible for directing all personnel and developing/directing all programs, activities, and operations necessary to advance the mission, vision, and values of HSWA.
Successful candidates will have nonprofit leadership experience and ideally experience in animal welfare. HSWA is looking for a strong leader to be the face of their organization. A strong Executive Director will be able to grow the organization and staff.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Shelter Operations/Organizational Development
Development and Fundraising
Community Development/Marketing and Public Relations
Financial Management
Board Reporting/Assistance
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Hiring, training, general management, and performance reviews for all staff
Leads by example, creating an environment of respect and cooperation among staff, vendors, volunteers, etc.
Utilizes Executive Assistant to aid in file management, donor files, grants, and record keeping
Defines and communicates to staff/volunteers, their roles, responsibilities, and accountability
Reports to the Board of Directors on departmental budgets, adherence to employment policies and practices, etc.
Ensures compliance with all state and federal employment regulations.
Oversees the development and maintenance of staff orientation, training manuals, emergency protocols, and disaster management plans, as well as safety manuals and other necessary documents
Education, Experience and Skills Requirements:
Must have a bachelor's degree in a relevant field and/or a minimum of 3 years of experience in the same/related job
Proficient and successful experience in fundraising for a non-profit/or other relevant organization
Proficient Experience in running a non-profit/business (budgeting, staffing, community outreach, fundraising, etc.)
Effective Leadership methods, skills, and experience
Animal Welfare experience is preferred
