Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Program Specialist

Location: Remote

Our client is seeking a skilled Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Program Specialist to join their team. As a key member reporting to the Business Continuity and Recovery Officer, you will play a vital role in developing and maintaining robust continuity and recovery programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive business continuity and disaster recovery programs.
  • Create policies, procedures, and guidelines ensuring all business units possess effective continuity and recovery plans.
  • Collaborate with agencies to assess and address their needs.
  • Conduct training sessions on best practices in business continuity and recovery.
  • Evaluate and enhance the effectiveness of existing continuity and recovery plans through testing and assessment.
  • Ensure alignment of continuity and recovery programs with overall security initiatives.
  • Conduct and update business impact analysis (BIA) to inform continuity planning.
  • Lead exercises and simulations to validate the efficacy of continuity and recovery plans.
  • Stay abreast of industry standards and emerging technologies in continuity and recovery.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in business continuity and disaster recovery program development.
  • Prior experience in government or public sector environments preferred.
  • Proficiency in business continuity and disaster recovery methodologies and best practices.
  • Knowledge of standards such as ISO 22301, NIST SP 800-34, and FEMA's CPG 101.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Relevant certifications such as CBCP, MBCP, or DRCE are advantageous.
