ProSearch is pleased to be partnering with Hope Association in their search for a new Executive Director. This position is open due to retirement and will be based in Rumford, Maine.

 

Hope Association is a nonprofit group of about 80 employees that provides support for people with intellectual disabilities and related abilities that allows them to live, work and recreate within their own community. Since its start in 1956, this group has grown to offer many different community services and programs and continues to expand. 

 

The Executive Director will be the chief administrative employee of the Association responsible to the participants, parents, guardians, community, and Board of Directors, the staff and for the overall operation of Hope Association and for the administration of a financially viable, and community participation of the organization.

 

Successful candidates will have a bachelor’s degree in Human or Social Services or a related field and at least 4 years of relevant experience within a nonprofit organization with strong leadership and finance experience.

 

Experience or history with Non-profit financial oversight and human resource preferred.

 

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all of the Association's programs and services related to each program as well as all managers of each program.
  • Employ such personnel as are required to fulfill the purposes of the Association.
  • Provide continuous supervision of personnel in accordance with the provision of personnel practice as contained in the Association's standard operating policies and procedures book.
  • Ensure Agency trainings are relevant to providing exceptional services.
  • Attend all regular meetings of the Board of Directors and prepare an agenda in consultation with the president or presiding officer of the board.
  • Assist the Agency and its various committees in the development of sound organizational policies, providing information necessary to clarify or revise policies.
  • Prepare and present an annual report to the Board of Directors including annual goals, accomplishments, and financial information.
  • Ensure fiscal stability of Hope Association.
  • Institute proper and appropriate management controls, maintain financial systems and maintain efficient personnel performances and other such controls and records that may be required.
  • Coordinate effective relationships between all agencies working on behalf of those served by Hope Association. (State and private).
  • The Executive Director is the public face of Hope Association and will participate in the community activities and will interact with members of the community in such a manner as to promote positive community recognition and support the Mission.
  • Initiate, prepare and submit grant applications to fund existing and new programs and services.
  • Ensure compliance of contractual agreements with the state and local agencies for the purchase(s) of services.
  • Negotiate all rental / leasing major purchases and other agreements.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness and staffing patterns, recommending necessary changes to the Board of Directors for their consideration and / or actions.
  • Develop programs that will enlighten Hope Association as to the services that are available for individuals and their families within the community.
  • Report any situations which might be interpreted as abuse, neglect, mistreatment or exploitation to the Board when you become aware of the situation.
  • Ensure Quality Assurance Goals, measures, and outcomes.
  • Maintain and develop programs as identified.
  • This Executive Director will work closely with a tenured, passionate leadership team and will be the face of the organization within this very involved and supportive community. 

 

The salary for this role will be in the $65k – 90k range depending on experience. Compensation will include full benefits.
